About Us
Hi, I am MKayla, LCSW! (She/Her/Hers)

NC LCSW
#C017219
I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I have been working in the field since 2018. I received my Master of Science in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Throughout my career, I have had experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. My background includes work in school, residential, and outpatient settings, as well as with individuals and families involved in the child welfare system.

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed and grounded in care, honesty, and relationships. I believe therapy is most healing when you feel truly seen and safe, so I show up authentically and create space for you to do the same. Together, we can explore the challenges you’re facing, honor your story, and work toward growth and healing at your pace.

I work with people navigating life transitions, those with experiences in the foster care system, individuals processing trauma, and young people stepping into adulthood. These moments in life can feel overwhelming, but I believe they also hold possibility and I’m here to support you through them with compassion and curiosity.

Outside of sessions, I love going to the gym, getting lost in a good book, spinning vinyl records, and traveling whenever I can. These things keep me grounded and joyful, and I bring that same energy of balance and presence into the work I do with clients.
I feel honored every time someone allows me walk alongside them in their journey. Therapy is brave, and I am grateful to be part of your story.
The Story of Rooted Therapy Services, PLLC
Rooted Therapy Services began with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves access to compassionate, meaningful mental health care, no matter where they live. Growing up in Appalachia, I saw how many people carried the weight of trauma, transitions, and systemic challenges—yet often had few places to turn for support. Mental health services were limited, and too often, people had to leave their own communities to get the care they needed.

I created Rooted Therapy Services to change that. This practice is about bringing therapy closer to home, meeting people where they are, and offering a safe and authentic space for healing. The name Rooted reflects both my own connection to this region and the belief that growth starts with tending to our roots. Therapy, to me, is not just about addressing struggles, it’s about honoring resilience, making sense of the past, and creating space for hope and change.

Here, relationships, honesty, and care guide the work. Whether you are navigating a life transition, healing from trauma, moving through the foster care system, or stepping into a new chapter of life, Rooted Therapy Services is a place where your story matters and your voice is heard.
